Who We Are

CFUW Moncton

CFUW Moncton is an organization of some 55 women university graduates who live in Greater Moncton and vicinity. Our club is one of over 100 across the country that make up the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) which is affiliated with Graduate Women International (GWI)

Our club has enjoyed the membership of a remarkable group of women since the first meeting in 1933.

We get together for monthly meetings, open to the public, from September to May. Our guest speakers discuss a variety of topics which reflect the diversity of interests of our members.

We take an interest in social issues, particularly education, human rights, legislation, and the environment.

Why not get involved? We keep abreast of education issues, lend support to the local libraries, and work on Advocacy issues. We have an active Out & About luncheon group, and two Book Clubs. You could turn your love of books into fun at the Book Sale, support local women in their quest for education. Here is how to join!

The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW), founded in 1919, is a voluntary, non-partisan, non-profit, self-funded, bilingual organization of about 10,000 women university graduates across Canada.

Founded in 1919, the International Federation of University Women has national affiliates in 62 countries. The original purpose, to promote international friendship, understanding, and peace, remains with the added commitments of advocating for women's rights, equality and empowerment through access to quality secondary and tertiary education, and training up to the highest levels. In 2015 IFUW was renamed Graduate Women International (GWII).

It has a long history of making its voice heard at global forums beginning with work with the League of Nations in 1924. It was one of the first women's organizations to be granted consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the UN.
